Alyssa Weinrauch

Bio

Alyssa Weinrauch is a postdoctoral fellow working with Drs. Jim Johnson, Dan Luciani and Francis Lynn at the University of British Columbia and BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute. She earned her PhD in Physiology and Cell Biology from the University of Alberta under the supervision of Prof. Greg Goss and completed postdoctoral work at the University of Manitoba (UofM) with Prof. Gary Anderson focused on the functional evolution of nutrient acquisition and its endocrine regulation. She also conducted additional postdoctoral work at the UofM with Prof. Ken Jeffries focused on the molecular stress response of fish facing environmental stressors. Her current research focuses on the cellular mechanisms leading to insulin secretion in human tissue including primary islets and stem cell derived islets, with a specific focus on the role of lipids.
