British Columbia's small businesses thrive with abundant federal and provincial support programs offering funding, education, and resources for startups in innovation sectors. LSI members leverage UBC resources such as entrepreneurship@UBC and UILO, gaining access to advanced facilities, workshops, seed funding, mentorship, and incubator space, facilitating the creation of new ventures.
UBC's world-class life sciences expertise, state-of-the-art equipment, seamless clinical integration, adaptable IP policies, and lean overhead form an attractive value proposition, fostering a multitude of industrial partnerships. LSI researchers collaborate with local and global industry leaders, resulting in over 80 successful technology commercializations.
Our researchers tackle diverse translational projects spanning diagnostics, drug development, medical equipment, and research on diseases like diabetes, cancer, and age-related macular degeneration. We actively seek collaboration with academic and industrial partners, as well as individuals and organizations passionate about advancing clinical and scientific breakthroughs in these critical areas.
